Single Parenthood

This week and into the next I am experiencing life as a single parent. My husband and oldest son are on a Spanish Club trip to Costa Rica. I am left at home (don't feel too sorry for me, I went to Spain in 2005 with the Spanish Club) with my two younger sons. Usually would not be too bad but the circumstances at work are preventing me from taking any time off this week. Last night when one son was a little under the weather, I spent the evening formulating a plan to care for them and still get to the office. Fortunately, he was better this morning and able to go to the sitter as planned. After only two days of this, I feel for all the single parents out there who have to juggle a full-time job, a long commute, kids, dogs, houses and all other obligations I am forgetting. I keep telling myself I am fortunate that this is only temporary for me.

He did it with honors....

My very proud moment of my oldest graduating from high school. The gold rope means he was high honors (+3.65) and the white sash means he was a member of the National Honor Society. I had fun holding back the tears most of the ceremony. He is headed off the college this August to become a high school history teacher. He will be an excellent teacher.
